Triptych icon. 19th century

In the Christian world, each person has his own patron saint. Believers have always sought to have icons of their patrons at home, but not every family could afford to have a separate image for each family member. Therefore, polyptychs were widely spread. The icon board of a polyptych has several plots depicted. The gallery presents a thriptych depicting the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Our Lady of the Sign and selected saints: St. Alexandra holding the Gospel, Apostle Peter with a scroll, St. Martyr Darya, St. Peter the Metropolitan of Moscow with a rod, St. Martyr Feodosiya, St. Apostle Matthew with the Gospel and St. Nikolay Kochanny.
